On being angry.
I’ve had a piping hot temper for a couple of months now. It’s been simmering with a few blow-ups here and there. I am angry. Very angry. Life is not fair. At all. I’m not saying it about my life, but about others. With each passing day I realize more and more how smart, creative, funny, loving, and just overall wonderful my dad was and it is just an injustice that he didn’t...
On the hardest year of my life thus far.
I swear if I survive this year with my sanity intact- I will honestly believe I can do anything in the world. I’m serious. Early this year a close relative passed away, and just a few weeks after- my dad lost is battle to cancer. I was in my last semester of college, in which my classes were tough and my involvement in the APA community was at its ultimate peak. I hit a point where I...
I finally did it.
Garden Visitor: You don't look Japanese.
Me: That's because I'm not.
Garden Visitor: Okay, so let me guess.
Garden Visitor: Well, obviously Asian, but definitely not Chinese or Japanese.
Garden Visitor: Are you Vietn-
Me: I'm Filipino.
Garden Visitor: Oh! I should have known!
Me: Yeah, I'm having trouble with yours, though.
Garden Visitor: Pardon?
Me: I just... god. I really can't figure out what kind of European you are.
Garden Visitor: ... Excuse me?
Me: I'm thinking Eastern European? Or never mind. Some sort of Scandinavian?
Garden Visitor: ...
Me: Well, I have a meeting but it's a real bummer I can't figure it out. Maybe next time. Bye!
You are the earth beneath my feet, you are my...
Found my old My American Heart cd. I have missed music like this. Music that speaks to the soul and would never be found in a bar or club. LOL There’s too many clothing stores and restaurants nowadays that play club music. Uh, I just want to shop/eat my food in peace. Thanks. Anyways, this summer seems to me a weird time for me. It is the awkward time after college, but before the start of...
: Organizing & storing your jewelry →
cream-kisses: I am kind of crazy when it comes to organizing and displaying things, especially my jewelry. I recently gave my little jewelry station a makeover and thought I’d share some of my ideas with you! I have one small drawer and a little cupboard on my jewelry unit, I use the cupboard to keep… after this summer full of traveling and moving to a new place every month or...
joannie replied to your chat: My Mom is a Ballerrrrr Think of it this way, a 1 carat Tiffany’s engagement ring is $11k, and that’s the cheapest ring (and not a great ring) Remember 3 months salary is the ring standard nowadays. (Wow this sounds snobby, but I understand what your mom is saying!) LOL Hey Pei-Chee- I feel so bad for your future fiance since you want a ring from Tiffany’s....
On Strong Women
One day when I have more time and energy, I will share with you all some stories about the magnificent women that are in my life. This giant project of clearing out my dad’s house- saving what we want and trying to sell it and get the house fixed up before we sell or rent it- has been a test of my physical, mental, and emotional strength. Through it all I’ve been surrounded by strong...
liiljoee replied to your photo: I got it from my momma! hahahahaha My mom,… oh, and i always wanted to ask - why is the ring from scott so manly….? Lol LOL I think it’s because the size of the letters engraved on the outside is pretty big, and it has the “Serenity Prayer” inscribed on the inside so that takes up two lines. :P
My Mom is a Ballerrrrr
Me: Wow! Mom, these rings are beautiful! Are the jewels real?
Mom: Yeah, they're real.
Me: So it's actually ruby and diamond?
Mom: Yeah, it's real. Your dad's mom gave them to me.
Me: HOLY COW can I have them? Oh gosh I can't believe it- real. diamonds.
Mom: What? That's nothing, it's so small. It was just a few thousand dollars.
Me: O_O GEEZUS.
adainbrazil replied to your post: My bf’s mom made my mom, sis, and I zhong zi for… what is that? just out of curiosity :D it’s rice wrapped in bamboo leaves and then steamed! :) usually they’re salty- with meat, mushrooms, and peanuts (or chestnuts). other times the rice can be sweetened with sugar and eaten as a dessert.
My bf’s mom made my mom, sis, and I zhong zi for Dwanwu Jie, and he brought them down when he came to help us clean out the house. So yummy! So thankful! :)
